Installed all new speakers today

Ciccuit City had their Pioneers on sale on the website. Buy the first paur get the second pair 1/2 off. I bought 6 1/2's for the sound bar and 5 1/4's for the dash. Had already ordered the dash adapters from 33 Engineering. Got bot sets of speakers..out the door tax and all for $82. Was also able to pick them up at the store when I ordered them on line. 6 1/2's went right in place of the 5 1/4's in the sound bar..used the same screw holes even. Adapter plates were a breeze for the dash. sounds 100 times better than the factory speakers. Here are some pics

Yeah that's a good idea,good deal TxFireman.
Since I changed the head unit ,these factory speakers doesn't keep up with the new stereo, so Im looking for new speakers too.

The new headunit is where the big change will be at I'd highly recomend speakers at eye/chest level like the ones from quadratec.

but those will get in the way of Scout's bitchin' new cage!

Some tweeters will really make a difference in sound, especially with some decent 2-way speakers in the rear. I plan on replacing the crappy stereo in mine, but not till I recoop some money that I spent on the lift

AzTJ i made a custom sound bar so i now have the stock soundbar in front.. wow man i never knew it could sound so amazing.. you can also find nice tweeters with small boxes and bolt them on to the dash.

As Scout's rollcage goes he can cut the 2 pipes off.. all they do is be in the way of everything ..

hey i'm a noob about electronics and was wondering how easy this was to do. do the new speakers just plug in the same way the old speakers did? if there is any re-wiring that would need to be done that might be above my capabilities.

i already replaced my factory head unit - had to have that professionally done in like 10 minutes - but still have the factory speakers in and for $80 this sounds like a cheap upgrade that will reap big benefits.

Dj Chizzle the old speakers (soundbar - rear) unbolt with 4 screws and the new ones pop right in there. You might need to cut the wires since i dont remember exactly what was there but if you do than just use a knife or something to cut the insulation and get the wires to show and then just twist the new ends that will come with the new speakers you will buy

as the front speakers go you will need a bracket if you want to use 5.25" round speakers. (brackets-last pic of post 1) and then its just the same from there as the rear speakers. Cut the wires if you need to and strip them and then twist them with the new ends from the new speakers and then use electrical tape to cleanly wrap them.

for the rears people shuv 6.5s in there that seem to bolt on.. I had covers/grills that came with my aftermarket 6.5" speakers for my old car unfortunatelly i never used them since i didnt like how it looked with the rest of the interior in the old car so i mounted the grills on my stock speakers now on my tj.. they are the same size..

that tells me the stock 5.5" speakers are the same bolt size as the aftermarket 6.5s

i went with a kenwood head unit and a set of infinity kappa speakers in the front and went with the kappa components in the roll bar i even went and mounted the tweeters in the roll bar, sounds great and it was even better when i added the sub.

Jma20a those look good where did you put the amp + wire through the firewall? So far i've only heard you put it through the drivers side hole.. its all the way on the other side of the battery though.. i'm trying to find another way..

thats a 12" sub firing towards the back seat?

sorry if i'm asking this question over and over again.. i asked it another threads but only got 1 reply.. hard to find wrangler people with subs lol

tweeters on the sound bar vs tweeters on the dash you mean?

soundbar tweeters < dash tweeters

get 3 way speakers in the sound bar (they come with tweeters)

get separate tweeters for the front and you woudnt be happier...

keep in mind tweeters are suppose to be up high so you dont need tweeters on the stock location by your legs.. you need tweeters by your winshield just on top of the dash.

i suggest getting 3 way speakers for the front http://www.crutchfield.com/S-F8yWcE8...0&I=1084627CFP (mine are the older model which came in a 3 way), why, because a set of component speakers( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-F8yWcE8...410&I=108507CS ) put out a much clearer crisper sound than just a 3 way. your ears are closer to the sound bar so why not put the better speakers closer.

And as for the question about the sub, it is a 10 inch quad-coil (yes that means 4 voice coils) and it is one of the few subs that can run at under less than 1/4 of an ohm. and it is bolted down to the floor and faces the back of the passenger seat(i unbolted it for the picture)

well as i said man no need to get a soundbar that has like 10 tweeters on it that i've seen floating around. A soundbar with just 2 3 way speakers will be perfect... you are correct the better speakers should go closer but they are still behind you where you have many other things that make noise such as flapping from top, no top so increased road noise and in my case muffler, which will make the better speakers sound worse.

Basically a 4 (PROPERLY PLACED!!!) speaker setup will sound better than a 2 speaker setup.. thats why you install tweeters in the front up above the dash instead of the stock location down low. Thats why nearly every modern vehicle comes standard with tweeters in top of the dash or usually by the side mirrors.

Installing the tweeters goes to the front speakers so its still a 4 channel setup altough there are more than 4 speakers.

ok.. when installing the + wire that goes from the battery to the amp. Where did you find a hole to install it through the firewall? I've asked this question so many times forgot who i've asked so pardon me if i'm asking you again.

I've noticed that the speakers in the '06 X tend to chatter for the first few seconds when starting listening to them, then they sound good. Have had the cover off the front passenger side speakers and it looks good. Had the sub out and looked at it seemed good. Boy it sounds liking the flapping you get when the foam tears at the frame / cage of the speaker, but it seems like everything is great. I actually love the system in this jeep, it is way better they past sound systems in other vehicals.

But that's by the drivers side? I hate how there is no hole by the battery (that i know of) so you gotta go all the way around.

Hey you got the same set up as me!

I love my pionner setup!
Its done me no harm!

Also those small speakers that go on the dash does it really make that big of a diffrence in sound quality or is it just more speakers to put in your car.

I havent replaced those, i will though sometime after i get subs and the rest of the stuff settled (lift tires etc).. i got custom 6x9s box in rear and my stock soundbar in front which is louder and sounds much better than the small stock 4x6s in the dash so the sound bar takes over and i hardly hear anything coming out of the dash speakers (i got hard top which i never remove so i dont have to worry about unclipping it and my soundbar is covering the clips since its so far forward.. well at least no one can steal my top from my jeep:duh:)
