Installing front dash speakers?

Finally got some speakers to put in the front upper/lower dash. I've seen some youtube videos in the past (and I'll search there again) but was curious if anyone had a specific guide or video they used to install theirs.
Seem like I recall some people took apart more than they needed to get the bottom ones in.

thanks.

I removed parts of the dash but still had problems. I ended up using a very short #2 Phillips bit for a drill motor. (The kind you see at the checkout line at HF, Lowes, etc.) Using the Jeep ratchet tool that comes in the green sleeved tool pouch and the Phillips bit I was able to get the top screw out of the speaker's tang quite easily by holding the bit in place with my index finger while ratcheting. I did the other two screws using a stubby #2 Phillips.

Thanks bob.

I did my soundbar today and it took way longer than I would have thought. I am waiting on some adapters for the front but it'll be ~2 weeks before i have time to install them. Not really looking forward to it.

I appreciate the tips.

I went with Morel Maximo 6 coaxs for soundbar and Components for front (as I said I haven't installed them yet).

Overall, it sounds very good and I am only running the pioneer 4200, no amp.

I do have an issue though. Didn't have alot of time to troubleshoot but the right speaker has some bad vibration in it. Well, not the speaker but the grill.
Not sure how to deal with that and not sure why the left side isn't noticeable???

I took the grill off and it did go away but I also had to adjust the crossover and go down a bit on the bass. It gets very loud. I'm just surprised it starts distorting above say, 20, on the pioneer. I really don't want to have to add an amp. Anything else I can do to fine tune????

I did stuff polyfill in the box but I am fairly certain I didn't overly stuff it.

After hearing this, I can't wait to get the components installed.

You could do either. I'd have to look if the 4200 will let you cross the front and rear speakers independently. Currently I have both cut off somewhere in that 60-80Hz range. The Morel components won't play very deep either because of the front speaker pod limitations. I think any speaker would give you the same limitations, so it's not just a Morel thing.

I just began phase 2 with my install where I get all the cabling and amps ready for install. Last weekend I started to fabricate a shelf to go under the steering column for my sub amp. Once I get all the amps in, I'll start phase 3 where I put a 10 sub under the drivers seat.

One thing that took a while with the soundbar speakers was the adapters I had. They were metra brand and I had to trim a ton away front eh inside diameter so the morel basket would fit flush. I have some scoche adapters on the way for the fronts so I will see which one works best.
Speaking of that, all I had was a dremel with a sanding attachment. All I could really do was melt away the excess. Is there a better attachment (or different tool) to do that with?

I have maximos in my sound bar running off an Alpine pdx-v9 and no distortion at all. I used noico 80mil sound deadener an polyfill. I used a Steve Meade dd-1 to set gain and my 4200 didn't distort until 39 so you most likely have an install issue to clean up. I would start with adding polyfill and making sure everything is tightened properly if there is still buzzing then sound deadening should help.

thanks bb

I went back out and did the auto calibration just for the heck of it. It sounds really good to me. BUt the AEQ did set the rears at 125Hz. I bumped them back down to 80.

What I really need is a really good test file/cd. Any recommendations on that?

I'm pretty satisfied now but will re-run the AEQ when I get the fronts in.

Oh and BTW I did use polyfill, just no sound deadening. I may go back in one day and do that but I'm mostly pleased with the sound now.

The dd1 came with a test tones cd so I used that, I know there's files you can put on a flash drive but I didn't need them so I didn't dig too deep. For the rear I gutted the stock speakers and used them. I have morel tempo ultras upfront and didn't need a bracket for the woofers, for tweeters I used to back straps off of crutchfield. It's just the hanger strap with holes you can get at the hardware store.
