Anyone got advise or suggestions on a new cd player that is iPod compatible. I want to get a cheap one cause my stock doesn't have the little hole u plug the wire into. Thanks

You want to control the iPod from the head unit or just plug it in?

If you just want to plug it in, any head unit with an auxiliary 3.5 audio jack in the front will work. I use this method with my Droid X cellphone to listen to Pandora or the MP3's that are on it. My stereo is a Pioneer DEH-4000UB, which is a couple of years old, but still works great. It also has a USB port on the back with a lead that I plug a 16GB flash drive into that is loaded with music.

As far as stereo advice, check out crutchfield.com - LOTS of stereos to look at and compare features.

I got a Pioneer for a bill from Best Buy last summer that has iPod, usb, and probably some other stuff on it that I can't read cause I'm old and blind, and completely technologically challenged....

if you want to integrate the ipod into the head unit, and do away with CD/DVDs entirely, check out the Sony DSX-S100 and above. I have the S100, love it, glad i got it. It will set you back about a buck-70 or so. Took about an hour and a half to install.

Alpine also has a really good one too, but i dont know the model number.

Thanks, very helpful from all of y'all, I have checked the ones that u actually put the iPod or iPhone in the unit, or flip it open and dock it. I saw dual had one for around 100 bucks, anybody had any experience with this one? Never heard of dual. Figure u get what u pay for. Don't really need cd player, just iPhone/ iPod compatability and fm.

Yeah. Supports iPods fully. But just incase I am wrong, check out Crutchfield and it will give you the full specs. But if memory serves me right, it will fit. The tray is pretty big. I dot have my Crutchfield mag with me at the moment.

Er, edit here...

The full size iPod, it wont say iPhone cause it recommends against that cause of safety blah blah blah... just check it out. I love it. I have a Droid and the auxiliary is great but I use my iPod for al my music. All 1200 songs.

So the install...was :cake: one of the easiest anythings i have worked on. The radio stuff from Quardratec came with everything needed except for one piece. The stereo was missing a grounding screw which normally you would take off the old radio but if your radio was stolen and you're replacing it with the iVault then you'll need to pick one up. 4mmx6mm with a washer for snugness is what i used. It even comes with a little rubber pad so the steel wont scratch up your ipod.

The Pioneer and Kenwood user interfaces for ipod/iphones aren't that great. I picked up the Sony CDX-GT650UI on ebay for 130. Cost 170 after tax at not so bestbuy. The user interface is amazing! USB port and Aux port. The button layout is easy too!
