Is a MTX 200W amplifier good enough?

As a present, my brother just had this installed on my JK Wrangler 2 Dr.
A MTX Audio Terminator 200W amplifier with a MTX 10" Sub woofer. ( I can't find that amp in the MTX site, it maybe an old model)
It sounds great and loud, I am just a little concerned because I was always told to get, at the very least a 300W amp. Will this work in the summer when I switch the hard top to the soft top?
Do you think I should try to get them to upgrade the amp to a 300W or bigger, (I believe he told me the sub can handle up to 600W)
Or should I just try it and see what happens?
By the way, maybe you guys can also explain to me the difference between Gain and Bass Boost, Right now I have the Gain at a little more than half (2 O'clock) and the Bass Boost is also at more than half (3 O'clock). The Bass control at the radio is flat and the loudness off, otherwise it just gets too loud with some songs, I am thinking about getting a volume control for the sub.
Well, thank you in advance.

I would double check and find the rms power of the sub and what ohm the coil or coils are.

Some amps have a remote gain control that helps. Try not to turn the bass boost up high. First set the gain than use the bass boost to add some bass to it. Most of the time if you turn the bass boost up to high it will cause the sub to distort at high volume
