Issue with Metra bracket for JK HU install

I installed a new head unit yesterday, and spent far too many hours swearing at the Metra bracket that crutchfield supplied. My issue was firstly that the screws supplied with the radio are too short - a trip to HD fixed that.

My main issue is/was figuring out the correct alignment for the bracket, so that the curve of the sides did not extend beyond the sides of the radio, and show hollow gaps. It seems the front of the brackets are indented and not aligned with the plate part you screw to the radio. Is that expected? it doesn't seem quite right?

Without something holding the rear end of the head-unit, it didn't seem very stable. I used a mechano like tin strip to go from the end of the unit to a screw on the bulkhead holding the trim in place. Is that the common way to do it.

I should have taken photo's as then it would be easier to explain.

Oh, I have a 2013 JK Sport, with completely base spec. Can I add the Bluetooth control buttons to the left hand side of the steering wheel? If so what's the part #/price?
