Jk subwoofer

By one replace their factory sub yet? Wondering what sub you went with and how'd it sound. I know it's a 2 ohm sub, just looking to keep the factory amp as a power source.

PM bouche03 ... he has the JL 8w3v2 that fits in the stock sub box powered with JL 250/1...I don't think the stock amp can power any aftermarket subwoofer. I have yet to find one. I'm also interested.

Just did this last weekend. Powered with a JL Audio 700/5 and it sounds great for what it is.

JL for the Sub

I replaced my sub with a 8" JL Audio Subwoofer model 8W1v2. It is a 4 ohm model and I don't know if there are any good 2 ohm models around. I did however replace all my speakers with good 4 ohm speakers and put in an amp as well. The sub now has it's own volume/intensity control as well and it really sounds great.

Where did you put the amp? I know theres room under the seats and possibly up under the dash but I'm looking for a good hidden spot.

I know that Kicker makes 8" 2ohm subwoofer speakers, and I have seen many threads on the upgrade installation. Most of them require a mounting ring to handle the increased depth. You didn't say the Year of your Wrangler, but I did find this thread and there are many other write-ups on how to do it. Most people don't use the stock amp with a aftermarket subwoofer. This is because the aftermarket subwoofer is much better and has much higher handling capacity. So, most people add an aftermarket amp to increase the power to the better subwoofer. So, don't expect much better sound if you have the same stock amp.

Sorry, mines an '09. I'd love to find a little better sub that didn't require another amp. Can't trust all the idiots out there nowadays. People will steal anything they can get their hands on. It's really sad.

The sub that I presented, doesn't necessarily require another amp. It is just an upgrade. But, if you want to maximize its potential and the bass, then you can add another amp. In regards to American politics, that is another topic.

Some people steal to survive. America is a great land for the greedy. Repubicans hire illegal aliens, and ignore the normal working class American democrats. They shift the jobs to foreign countries, instead of giving overtime to hardworking Americans, who produce better quality products. Parents in America, will steal and even kill to support their families. Then, you have people whose minds just can't handle the drama. This includes the rich republican children, who can't compete, and the poor democratic children, who can't compete. Their minds break, and they turn to drugs, desperation and theft. Everyone fighting for the American dream. And, those who have achieved it, through hard work, place blame. But, like I said, that is another topic. Politics is a nasty business.
