i dont know if there is a thread on this already, I'm sure there is but might as well start another one. i have a 2010 wrangler unlimited and i just bought the uniden 510xl with the spare tire mount and i want to see how you guys mounted the cb and ran your wires to battery, ground, and coax cord. if you can post pictures, that'll be even better! thanks!
Just in case you hadn't read this yet, wire the CB directly to the battery to avoid interference (vs tapping into some fuse or other wiring). There are some good threads I've read over time on people solving their interference problems by rewiring directly to the battery.
I know others will chime in as you have questions. There are some great, passionate CB operators here, and specific questions always get some good feedback.
If you have the manual transmission, there's an unused pass-through above and to the right of the gas pedal that the automatic transmission uses for the shift cable. There's a black rubber plug in there you can drill a hole through so the wiring can pass through.
Thanks Jerry - nothing in front of the passenger, though? My plan was to mount the CB above the rear view mirror and I was going to run power/ground off the battery, through the firewall and behind the right hand A-pillar plastic trim piece, then along the horizontal windhshield plastic trim piece.
Though you can't really see them in the photo, the mics are attached to automatic spring-loaded retractors so I don't have to keep placing the mic back in its clip. I siliconed both mic retractors on top of the mount. I now run with the mic cords looped onvr around the mounting bracket so they don't hang down like in the picture.
