M8000 warn winch

My friend sold me a winch he said he had the wires from the solenoid box to the winch wrong for just a second when he was testing it. He figured out the right way to put them on but it still won't work so he sold it to me for $100. I figured it was just the box and not the winch that was bad. I check the continuity on the solenoids and the winch,it's all ok. So my question is there a fuse or anything I should look at to see what's wrong? When I hooked it up to a battery it won't do anything!
