I use a CB for trails and traffic occasionally, I use my MP3 player for long trips, or a day on the trail, and I have a GPS unit that is mounted on the dash...

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

Since I'm in the middle of designing an overhead console I'll add another question.
For those of you that own a GPS unit or are planning on purchasing one in the future, would an overhead security console designed to hold a GPS unit (along with your CB radio)be of interest?
thanks
Jim

GPS
CB
Hand Held CB (Great for spotting)
XM Radio
Scanner (sometimes, CB has weather channels so I use the scanner less and less)

Jim | Only if you can make it convenient to see for both the passenger and driver, and can easily take out the GPS system to use as a handheld, or to dock on the computer...

GPS, CB (euw), and a Ham (both permanent mobile and a handheld transceiver) - I'll be adding an amp, some speakers, and an MP3 player soon as I have no tunes right now (I'm skipping the flimsy head units alltogether)

I run a garmin GPSmap 60CS; I've loaded it with street maps for Arizona, as well as topographic outdoor maps. It's portable, mobile, does turn by turn directions perfectly, magnetic compass and barometer (great for camping), and has the maps an outdoorsman wants (not just street maps like most 'car' GPS' are limited to) so I absolutely love it. The new GPSmap 60CSx has the potential to load the entire US in maps on there due to the new expandable memory, in addition to having a more sensitive receiver

That is awesome. You really went all out on this. Will this fit between the bars of a Posion Spyder roll cage on a YJ? I see that you have some type of aftermarket roll cage. If you can post the dimensions, I can check myself, and does this hook on to the footman loop?

It's Approx. 24" X 9 5/8 to 9 3/4" wide. I say approx. because I'm working on different covers for it right now and it's going to depend on which one I settle on.
This model bolts to the spreaders of a front sportscage. I will be working on a longer version ( for those without a sports cage ) as soon as this one is finished.

i have one thing that rolls into 3 kinda, i have a laptop computer that i use in my jeep, it has mp3, gps, and in conjunction with my scanner i can pinpoint all the local city police, sheriff office, fire trucks, ambulances and any thing esle that put out there low frequency tracking devices its kinda fun really. and i am looking for a way to mount my laptop in my jeep, in my bronco i have a custom built stand that sits in front of the console, but there is no room for that in a jeep so was looking to either put it on the dash with a stap(but can only be used on trails), or to take out the passenger side airbag and just slide it in there. but i havent decided. any other suggestions.

I use this in my truck(van) for work for toughbook laptop. The mount is pretty universal, I think it could bolt to the floor, the stand can be cut down for hight.

why not install a monitor in the dash so the BIG laptop won't be in the way and you can use it while driving.
