More starting Gremlins!

I have a 2000 TJ and I have had a few electrical problems in my day but nothing like this. I am a mechanic so I do know how to go thru and diagnose stuff. But I have never ran into a problem like this and was wondering if anyone had ever experienced this.
Ocassionally and I mean every once in awhile I will go to start my TJ and when I turn the key to accessory I have power, once I go to start it I lose everything until I pull the key out and try again. Now sometimes it will start on the second try but sometimes it more that that.
I have checked my battery posts and battery itself and the are both good. The starter also has good connection. I am leaning towards the ignition switch itself. Any ideas or similar issues?

Do the needles on your gauge cluster twitch and move when this happens?

I heard from a locksmith that the tumblers could be worn out in the ignition causing a bad connection when you go to start the Jeep. I don't know how true it is, but it might be worth a look.

It's probably the actuator rod in the ignition. Pull the ignition switch and check it out
