mounting antenna help/ideas

I got my Uniden pc68XL CB, 4' Firetik, 12' coax cable, and horizantal mount all ready to be installed. I know were I am going to mount the CB and run the power wires in the dash. The planning out the install got snagged when I was looking at the rear of the TJ and reliezed there are no flat horizontal pieces of metal. I saw people using to vertical mount and drilling into the body but I dont really want to put holes in my 03' TJ. Also I would like to be able open my tailgate and drive into my garage without removing the antenna. they also had 3 way mount and vertical mount, but I didnt see and flat vertical pieces of metal either.

Use the bolts that hold on the tire carrier. Or drill a hole in the tire carrier and mount it there.

I used a Teraflex mount, with a folding attachment for the antenna. it used all the holes from the taillight, so I only had to drill one in the quater panel for the suport bolt. You dont even really need it, but with a 4ft fiberglass, Its a good idea.

I aint got no ideas for your current mount, although the tailgate hinges seem like a good idea. Ive heard the bumper is a big no-no, bad fuel pump noise.

I'm going to use a small piece of angle iron bolted to where the stock tire carrier mounts to the tailgate. but I dont know if you have the stock carrier or not

ya i have the stock carrier, I was going to clamp it to the tailgate hindge with the horizontal mount i baught(ill get pics of what i got later) but i dont want to scratch the paint so i was gonna use some thin rubber between clamp and hinge but if it needs to touch metal to be grounded that negates that idea. could you post some pics of what you were planning on doing?
