MP3 hookup

I want to be able to play by music off my IPhone thru my stereo, are the FM wireless transmitters pretty good or do I buy an adapter that plugs in to the antenna jack? Interested what you guys have done.

Thanks.

Fm transmitters suck and cost more than an aux cable. You can get 3 retractable 3' aux cables on amazon for $5.

It really depends on your stereo inputs. Most of the aftermarket radio's have an Aux plug in front of the radio. Some of the newer stock radio's have a Aux plug in front too. This is what you want to plug into your Iphone headphone jack. You just need a stereo cable. If your radio doesn't have an Aux plug in front, then you may look at the radio schematic, and see if it has an Aux plug behind the radio. You do NOT plug into the antenna jack with your Iphone.

FM transmitters are a last option. An Aux plug is the best. There are also cassette adapters which can work a little better than FM transmitters.

Now, to answer your other question, what I did was I routed the Aux plug from behind my radio, through my gooseneck holder. I didn't like the wires hanging in the front of my radio, and getting in the way. I also didn't like putting my phone in the cigarette lighter to charge it. It was creating a mess. I used the Bracketron, and the Arkon gooseneck. It puts my Cell Phone out of the way, it gives me back my cigarette lighter, and removes all the loose wires.

Like your setup ChasUGC. The stereo is an aftermarket Pioneer DEH-45DH. Haven't been able to find a schematic or user manual online so looks like I'm going to have to get a look behind the dash and see what I've got. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks.
Best to have a deck with a USB jack or, Line-In. Makes the connection easy.
I agree with the previous post; running the wires behind the panel keeps it clean and, the gooseneck is fantastic.

Oh, and, I prefer the USB connection because it both powers/charges my iPhone and, it connects to my deck all with one cable (rather than two). Make sure you pick up a USB cable in black though..as it hides much better with the dash and is less conspicuous to anyone "looking" in your window when your Jeep is parked.

Broke out the flashlight and an extendable mirror, pulled the glove box so I could see behind the CD player. The radio has the AUX inputs so I'm going to buy this cable to hook up to the stereo.
Amazon.com : Stereo AUX-IN Cable 3.5mm to 2 x RCA Phono (4ft/1.2m) for connecting iPods, iPhones, smartphones and mp3 players - With stepped slimline connector, to accommodate smartphone and mp3 player cases : Electronics

I saw a Pre-out, not an Aux in. The Pre-out would be used for an amp, it is not an "In" connection.

Your Stereo seems to be out dated for the newer electronics. It doesn't have Bluetooth, which would solve your problem better than a FM modulator, or Aux in.

1.5 din stereo are not that good in features anyway. You might be better getting a single din aftermarket stereo. They can be found at many different price ranges from $80-300, which will work with your Jeep. Most of those will have Bluetooth and Aux-in, front and back, which will solve the problem. Time for an upgrade!
