Mp3 player needs a highspeed port??

I recently got a new mp3 player and when I plug it into the port of the laptop I get a message saying I need a highspeed port. I just want to listen to death metal when I'm cutting grass. Do I need to take the laptop somewhere to get this changed or is it something I can do?

That's odd. It should let you do it anyways. When I plug in a high speed usb device into a low speed usb port there is a pop up saying something like if I use a high speed port I'll get better performance but it still lets me use the device.

Chances are on a laptop it isn't something that is upgradable. At least on my old laptop and my new laptop it isn't. They are usually built into the mainboard.

So maybe I should just plug it into my desktop and see what happens?

I could care less if the files transfer at a highspeed or lowspeed. I just want them to transfer.
