need advice on speakers in car

Hey,
So I have a 2010 Wranlger jk. I want to upgrade the speakers in the car. I'm looking for something not so expensive but will add better sound than the stock sound. I have 2 12" kenwood subs from my old car but dont want to install them because I don't want that much bass. Just looking for a little extra.. So my question is, if I just replaced the speakers within the car what would you choose? also would this require an amp? I have my amp still from my subs, could I use that? Thanks

Can't help you with the speakers, but I'll bet you'll get alot more help if you stop calling your Jeep "a car"

I say replace the stock speakers and amplify them. Also stuff the speaker cavities with Polyfill. Sell your 2 12's and get one good quality 10".

Depending on what kind of amp you have, it may or may not work. You can run your regular speakers and a sub all off of a 4ch amp if the power ratings and ohm loads match up right..

not wanting to have too much bass than do what i-want-a-jeep said. sell the 12's for a single 10" or use the money for a set of nice speakers and an amp for them. a single 10" will not take up much room and add a bit of bass to your system. with new speakers powering them with an amp will bring them to life. so getting a 5 channel amp will power the speakers and a sub. without a sub a 4 channel will do the job for you.

While a 5ch would work as well, they're generally speaking a little more expensive..I've used 4ch in several small systems, like I said, as long as you can get the power ratings and ohm loads to mate up right. Wire all speakers on left side together to front left channel on amp, all right side speakers on front right channel of amp, and bridge the rear 2 channels to the sub.. Use crossovers and such from a decent head unit..

Granted you lose your front and rear fade but who really uses that??
