Need some antenna help

I purchased the following:

3' Firestik II Tunable Tip Black Antenna
Firestik K-8R18 18 Foot Fire-Flex Coax Cable with Fire Ring
Teraflex spare tire mount bracket

I forgot to purchase (or didnt know) I needed the Firestik K-4R stud mount (Fire Ring).

My question is should I just order the K-4R and stick with the Fire Ring set up or throw the cable in the trash and buy a regular stud mount and cable. Or should I be buying a spring mount hub and new cable?

Thanks!

I would go to a stud mount. I have cut off and thrown away several of those firerings from friends Jeeps. Cutting if off Is usually the first step in trouble shooting a CB with high swr. And most of the time the only step needed for the repair.

You don't need to trash the cable. Just buy a stud mount for the antenna, cut off the nifty fire ring off the end of the coax and put a stud on it.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

CB antenna? Stereo antenna?

A truck stop or Radio Shack should have cables if you don't want to wait for the mail man. You want RG-8X or RG-58. If your antenna stud has an SO239 connector, you'll need PL259s on both ends of the cable. If the antenna stud has wire connections you'll only need a PL259 on the radio end of the cable.
