New Stereo System

I am wanting to upgrade my 2010 Sport's stock stereo system. Security will be important because my top and doors will be off most of the time while I am surfing, etc in San Diego. Any and all advice on radio, speakers, and amps would be great. Lound sound going down the Highway with top off is a major goal along with security.

What do you want to spend on everything.

Great question. No more than $1,000 for everything.

What are you looking for. Head unit, speakers, sub? What head unit functions do you want, bluetooth, ipod control, pandora....

here is a basic setup

headunit Kenwood Excelon KDC-X896 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

speakers Polk Audio db651s 6-1/2" 2-way shallow-mount car speakers at Crutchfield.com

sub Infinity BassLink Powered subwoofer: 200 watts and a 10" sub at Crutchfield.com

that runs just $660. if you still want to spend the full $1000 than add an amp for the speakers

or

go with a component sub with and amp, enclosure, and wires(not too many good options if you go this way to fit your budget)

You could also use some of that $1000 to get it installed professionally. Installing amps, and messing with the electronics in any car isn't really the best thing to do if your not sure what your doing. Shorts or fires could occur. If you want to install it yourself just make sure you research everything, from bridging amps, to ohms, to removing your stock head unit, to using the correct gauge wire. Lots to know in the electrical/sound world.
