Newbie question about sub woofer & amplifier. Help!!

I had a new radio and 4 speakers installed on my '07 2Dr. Wrangler, but still not happy with the sound.

I was told I need a sub woofer. I don't want anything that is going to take a lot of space.

Do you think the sub that comes with some of the Wranglers is good enough? I was told I will also need an amplifier for the sub, Is this true?. Where to they install the amplifier?
Help me out with recommendations, as to what brand and model to get. I like the looks of the original Jeep sub woofer, where can I get one and how much do you think is going to cost me? or what do you think I should get??

I have a JVC 200W radio and 4 Alpine SPS-600 installed, I was hoping not to spend more than $300.00 on the sub but I hear they may go for around $500.00. Thanks

with a $500 budget

this is a great sub and can run over the rms power with no problem, i had one that i ran at 750 watts. and go with the duel 2 ohm voice coil

SSA Shop - Incriminator Audio 10" Lethal Injection

and this amp will run at 1000watts rms at 2 ohms.

MB Quart DSC1000.1 Discus Series 1-Channel Car Amplifier

the only other thing you will need is a ported enclosure and a 4 gauge wire kit.
