Noisy noisy

I have 2 12" kicker cvr's and a 750 watt amp hooked up in my jeep and when a certain bass line hits the hardtop on my jeep will make a really loud rattling noise. I was wondering if anyone else has had this probelm and had a solution.

make sure everything is tight...other than that not much you can do...when you add bass to a vehicle rattling will happen..some vehicles are worse than others.

about all i can think of to do is see if you can make a gasket. that way there is a buffer. but i dont have a hard top so unsure how much play room oyu have

The first thing to do is find the rattle. Turn up the bass and listen for it to see where it's coming from. When you think you've found it, try holding the part still with your hand to see if it stops. Common sources of rattles are license plates, loose junk laying around the car, and loose bolts and screws. Once you've found it, just tighten the bolt, move the junk, add some foam padding, etc.

A hard top is mostly solid plastic...so I'd probably start at the rear window where all of the moving parts are, and all of the places where the hard top meets the tub.

I found the rattle, Its right above the passenger seat and its coming from the hardtop. Im guessing the plastic interior is hitting the metal exterior of the hardtop. The only way i could fix it would be to drill through it and put a bolt there to keep it still.

What about drilling a small hole in the interior plastic and injecting some expanding foam between the panels?

That's a very good idea. I might have to try that. Thanks
