One Question Concerning Console Sub-Woofer

I own a 04' Jeep Wrangler and I've been using these forums alot to help me with installing car audio. I'm new to the forum, and new to installing car-audio too. I swapped out the stock head unit with a JVC KD-R210, in case your wondering its a nice head unit wasnt the most expensive but works great. And just recently installed Kenwood KFC-1393PS speakers into the sound bar.

I've been dealing with a blown sub in my center console. and everytime i do an upgrade to my system it just gets worse. I dont have the money right now to buy a new sub. So should I just take out the sub altogether and will the lows that the sub produced be routed towards my new speakers?

Hopefully that makes sense. Appreciate your help and time. Willing to clarify more if needed.

Welcome to the forum

A replacement sub for that spot would only be about 50 bucks. Here is a write for installing a Bazooka sub in its place. Much better sound and not very expensive. But if you have NO money. I would follow the write up and unhook your present sub and re-assemble everything before your blown sub hurts the amp that is in the console.

I got a Pyramid sub to replace it. It was all of $18 shipped and nearly a direct replacement. I can't say much for the sound as the center console sub was blown when I got it.

I keep reading about all the different Console Subs. When i get some money again I think i'll end up installing a new 6" sub. I dont want to go out spend all kinds of money on a 10" or 12" sub + amp and have it get stolen out of my car. That would suck.. Atleast with the console sub you have some kind of security.

That was exactly my thinking. That pyramid is a 6" I believe and a direct replacement. You just have to cut out a bit of plastic on the bottom for it to fit.

There are two bolts underneath the rubber in the cup holders I think, and one or two more under the cup holders in the rear. Ill find the write up that I followed on how I did mine.

Here ya go. This guide has very helpful pictures.
