question on factory radio

I'm selling my factory 6 disc radio out of my 2006 TJ, the guy that wants to buy it has a 2003 TJ. Will it plug into the existing harness in the 2003? I think it will, but don't want to give the guy any wrong info and sell him something that won't work in his jeep. Thanks in advance.

Yes it will fit his. It would not fit in the earlier TJs though. IIRC 2002 -2006 are the same could have started in 2003 though, either way it will work in his.

The guy says these radios have to have a code to make them work. Is this true?

I've heard of it in vehicles with high dollar stereos. So if it gets stolen it won't work once the power is disconnected

The new Jeeps have a code that you can obtain from Jeep by giving them your VIN number. I don't know about the older ones.
