Radio question

How do you keep your radio dry when it rains, I just lost one that got rained in. Do they make a cover for them or something?

You could easily install a marine radio cover, cost is usually less then $20. I have one in my boat. Don't know a reason why it wouldn't work in a Jeep.

Well not on purpose but it is a Jeep and it is bound to get rained in from time to time.

a guy at my office throws a beach towel over his dash when it looks like it might sprinkle.

I have had mine rained on a couple of times, it wouldn't play CD's for about 2 days and then it would kick back up in full force.. is it totally fried? maybe a plastic bag over the console would work, that way you wouldn't have a wet towel to deal with as well as a wet Jeep!

I was wondering about a detachable face and possibly a plug to cover up the little plug in for the interface. I am not sure if they would make anything like that or not.

What about getting an actual marine radio/CD player used in boats. I'm just waiting for mine to fry and I'm buying from West Marine. check out their web.

I got a new head unit coming today and I plan on encasing it in some flashing with 2 very small fans, at least for the part inside the dash, outside I'm not sure yet, I like that jensen fold down cover.

I just make sure I put the top up, when it's gonna rain.....now if the top is leaking, that's another matter.

In the boat, the head unit mounts into it, and then the whole thing slides into the din sleve. You may have to do some minor mods to get it to fit into a single din mount for the Jeep (assuming you've upgraded to a single din head unit). The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the added protection for the head unit.

I'd like a flip down cover that looked like the factory am/fm/cass face, then nobody would ever steal it..

I seem to remember the older alpines or Blaukpunks had a Handle that pull down and you could pull the whole unit out. I don't think they make them anymore though.
The marine cover works good though. My buddy has one in his TJ.
