Remote starter / new keys??

I have a 2004 TJ with two original chip keys.

Had an aftermarket remote starter installed (love it below 35 degrees), and the installer used one of the chip keys in the starter. So now I have only one useable key.

Went to home depot to get a spare, and they had a big sign (confirmed by the guy behind the key counter) that said they couldn't make spare chip keys in cars w remote starters.

He said check w the dealer... And that of course means getting ripped off. He further said if I get a new key programmed it would wipe out the remote starter chip key, and that would of course--technical term here--suck.

Is there an alternative?

Thanks in advance.

Well at the end of the day I need 3 keys: a main key, a spare, and one for the remote starter.
