Rigid Industries Dually LED's : Installed

I decided to pick up some more lights for my TJ , and after a bit of reading and watching videos, I decided to jump on the LED bandwagon.

I picked up my Rigid Industries Dually LED lights from our vendor Northridge4x4. I would have bought direct, but Northridge4x4 offered free shipping over $100... so I bit.

They got here fast, but the weather has been so up and down I hadn't had a solid chance to get them installed until today.

Rigid Industries makes their products right here in Aironza.

The lights have a pre-wired pigtail with a water proof connection. I mounted the lights upside down on my front bumper and ran the wires under the grill on the passenger side.

Even in the day light, these suckers are bright... really hard to look at without squinting. Waiting for the sun to set to take some more pictures.

Although the lights came with a very good harness, I did not like the little round button switch that was provided, so I hacked it off and ordered up a couple of light switches from OTRATTW that look like ARB locker switches. After a little grinding to the back of the factory switch housing they popped right in. Jim at Otrattw gave me some excellent customer service when I asked for a wiring diagram for the switches. I emailed him Sunday, and not only did he reply within 30 minutes, but also left a voice mail on my cellphone! Highly recommend them for accessory switches.

Very nice James! Now find a swicth to replace that wiper switch that matches the other two, but still performs both functions of the wiper switch. Then I'll take that whole panel apart on mine and replace it with a switch plate like we were talking about before.

Yeah, good luck.

I'm probably going to be ditching the hard top once I get a second vehicle... so that switch will be gone.

These things are HELLA BRIGHT!
I need to space them from the mounting bracket just a bit more in order to swing them out more and I need to tilt them up just a bit. But I'm very happy with these.

Angry Bad Luck

Beware, read the warranty, or lack thereof... An expensive embarrassment is my experience. They look cool and are cool when they work but a month or so after first use they started blinking for no reason, no return on my emails and phone calls to tech support... Glad I didn’t spend any more than $200.00 learning this lesson!

Problem Fixed

Wow, a day after my last post here tech support for Ridgid Industries called me and explained that they were really backed up but that he would ship me a new pair with a return box for my old pair. It seems they had a circuit board redesign in Nov 2010 to fix this blinking issue. I bought my pair 2 months before that... Subsequently, I fully retract my previous low opinion of tech support there and offer a glowing endorsement, just give them time to get to you! I will be buying more of these LEDs from Ridgid Industries, they are way cool!
