Sirus Satalite Antenna

ok I know this has been posted before. I just can't locate it.

I recently purchased an 07 Wrangler X I am a Siriuse Radio user and Lover.(can't stand commercials) May Wrangler has the factory radio with the SAT option but the reception just is terrible. I get it sometimes or spend 20 30 40 miniutes trying to get it to work. I'm sure its the location of the the Antenna, but I can't find it.

I've heard it is under the plastic cover over the radio on the dash if that is that case the reception would be bad because the antenna does not get a clear view to the sky for reception. Is it possible to attach another exterior antenna to the factory radio or should I just go back to the Plug and Play unit I have from my previous vehicle.

Thanks

I have also heard it's under the rollbar padding, not sure which one or if it's true, just heard it.

I have heard that too, which would also be a terrible location. I guess I'm just going to have to search for it.

Under the rollbar padding would not be a terrible location. That's where it is on TJs and it works just fine. There's nothing metal above the dash line that would interfere with reception - padding, soft top or hard top, none of these in any way affect reception. Either you live in the middle of a forest or there's something else wrong.

I've heard under the rollbar padding as well, but I don't have the stock Sirius receiver, so I can't check.

When I installed my aftermarket receiver, that's where I put it since it gets the best possible line of sight to the sky, even through the soft top or hard top, since neither should interfere with reception whatsoever. So far it works beautifully.

Same here, I've never had a problem. Works great and is completely hidden.

Thanks guys. I don't live in the middle of the forrest so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll have to dig around the rig this morning and see where it is. I read on another site somewhere that some dude was having the same issue callied sirius and had them resend the signal and his worked fine. So maybe thats where I should start.
