How involved do you want to get ? I just replaced the stock am/fm/cass with a JVC KB BT-1 am/fm/cd/usb bluetooth head unit and 4 pioneer speakers in the stock location. I got the head unit from www.crutchfield.com, came complete with wiring harness to plug into the stock harness, face plate adapter and good instructions on the harness, $279 shipped. The speakers I bought last year and they came with speaker wire adapters. Works for me and I use my cellphone alot.
I have a very similar system in my 98XJ only the head unit is a jensen.

Highly recommend a receiver with USB input. You will never touch a CD again... no more skipping!

Yup, thats turned into the most cool thing on that JVC unit I just put in. Got a whole bunch of 4 gig memory sticks from shows and courses I've been to and a box full of 512's to 2giggers too. No skips, no moving parts, no hiding or carrying CD's anymore, even better than a DVD deck. Also starts up faster, no spin up time and read time, just read time and plays and much faster when changing songs.

I don't have USB input, but I have an integrated iPod adapter on my Alpine.

The HU also has XM radio. What's a CD?

Along with the Alpine/XM/iPod setup, I have MB Quart 5.25's in the dash and Kicker 6x9's in the soundbar. Powering the speakers is 2 amps. A Kicker 4 channel amp is running the 4 main speakers and an Alpine single channel amp powers the 12" Alpine sub I keep in the back. When I wheel I unhook the 12" sub and remove it. I have an 8" Kicker sub in the Tuffy console that I use when wheeling.
