Soundbar speakers squeak?? WTF

I have a 98 with an OEM soundbar. I recently installed aftermarket speakers and ever once and and a while they will squeak when I go over bumps. When they start to squeak I remove them and re-install them and the squeak goes away for about a month then comes back. WTF am I doing wrong?

Try installing a rubber baffle between the speaker and mount. weather stripping or 1/8" 2 way tape may be a cheap easy fix

Depends on whether the squeak was from the actual speaker or the sound coming out of it. Sounds to me like if it started with hitting a bump one of the screws may have backed out a thread or 2. A baffle should aid in that case.

I put some insulation tape on where the speakers make contact with the soundbar. The left side no longer makes noise, but the right side still does. I'm going to take that speaker out and drive around to see if the noise goes away. If it goes away I guess I will add more tape and see what happens!

check the screws that hold the sound bar down. I had same issue. Maybe have somebody ride with you that can get close to the noise to narrow down the location.

Dang, I hate those issues! You could try the whole weather stripping thing between the soundbar and roll cage as well. Unluckily for me everything on my Jeep squeaks so I have a LOT of work to do.

Well, it wasn't the sounbar making the noise. I believe it was my rear seat. I sprayed all the attaching brackets and stuff with good old WD-40 and the squeak went away. I hope that was the cause of the squeak.
