Speaker Issues

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and was helping my neighbor install her new cd player and speakers. I got the deck in no problem but for some reason the speakers play very quiet and static like, and when I turn it up to 26 the sound cuts out.

I'm thinking it might be a short somewhere. The static was there before and was the reason for replacing the deck and speakers. I wired the speaker by cutting and splicing the Jeep wires with the wires that came with the speakers

i would move the ground wire location for the headunit, i had a similar issue when i changed from the factory unit. just make sure that the connection is metal to metal(no paint in between) the factory ground wire is actually both a tether and ground wire(the one that has the foam on it and is flat.

So all I have to do is find a better ground? So why do the speakers sound so quiet at volume 20?

Is it possible you wired the speakers up backwards? Just an idea...I'm not sure.

Pretty sure I didnt. I've been doing this a while but anything is possible. What color is the ground on the passenger side speaker. Jeeps not here right now but I wired what I thought was the ground to the wire with the stripe on the speaker.

If this helps the stuff is a DUAL XD1222
