Speakers

While I was working on my jeep today I may have happen to stuff my philips screw driver through my speaker. The one's in the bar. Time to upgrade! What is a good speaker for say 100-150 bucks.

Planet Audio, IMO, are great speakers for the price. I have owned a few, and know others who have, and all have always been happy with them.

Do any of you have these installed in your jeep sound bar? Will 6.5" fit ok in the existing opening? I have the long sound bar not the two pods. I was also thinkig of removig the sound bar completely, but I'm not sure yet.

Never heard of 'em. I like to check it out but judging from the website there is no dealers in or around Memphis.

in that price range, you can pick up just about any set of coaxials sound good to you.
some to consider though:

Inifinity
Kicker
Polk
JL Audio
Memphis Audio
MB Quart
Alpine
Eclipse
the list goes on....

brands to stay away from:

Bose
Jensen
Sony
the list goes on....

I swear by Infinity, but my second choice is Cerwin-Vega. I have Cerwin 6x9's in my sound bar and they rock...

infinity and kicker are great choices for jeeps for a couple reasons...they can be inexpensive, they can be purchased locally, and they have a great range of sound which is needed in a jeep. as far as coaxials go, neither are lacking in any one area. they are just great all around speakers.

Why don't you like Bose? I've had no problems with them and they sound better than my infinities ever did.

Sorry but I have never heard of Planet Audio. And the name reminds me of the Bazooka brand you see at BestBuy lol

Blows I call them. My previous home theater was Bose and I had nothing but issues with them. My wife has them in her Trailblazer and they sound like poo at high volumes.

Home theater is now Klipsch and car audio is Boston for me.

I swear by them.

...but my Jeep has stock radio and speakers at the moment.

Got a set of higher end Alpines in my bar. cost me about $100-$125 and they sound awsome. Great highs and mids. The infinity's that came in the TJ sound pretty damn nice too.

A perpetual work in progress. Too much to list, not nearly enough to matter.
My RigRater Score: 387RRv1.0 with a BOA of 18.92 (and just how exactly is this going to help me over that big arse rock?)

Thats what I'm looking for, someone who has them in the bar. They never sound the same as the display units and a jeep has acoustics to match its aerodynamics.

I have a decent stereo, just need new speakers and want to up-size to 6.5" from 5.25".

I've never heard of Planet Audio, but then I haven't bought after market car audio in a real long time. I'll have to look at those, thanks.

Strange, never heard that. Well guess my ears are still ringing from all the bass.

Mine is mostly stock with a cheap bass tube that is set up to be removed along with the deck. Already had one top sliced for a backpack that only had rule books in it. I just can't see putting a ton of money into a system for a convertible.

Unless it is locked up in a garage most of it's life.
