speakers ???

I believe the OEM speackers are 6.5 inches. Do you guys know if aftermarket 6.5's will fit in the stock locations with no problem? and if so, what do you recommend me to by? looking to buy wife new sets for x-mas.

Thanks!

They are 6.5s. If you are replacing speakers in the soundbar, you will likely need a shallow mount speaker. The speakers in the dash are a SOB as you have to basically pull the whole dash to replace the driver's side speaker. Speaker choice is all up to you. I like Alpine, Infinity, Polk & JBL. Everyone thinks one is better than another and will tell you something else is trash. Go to a sound shop and listen to some and let your budget decide.

Here are the instructions for removing the speakers from the dash:

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – DRIVER

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel end cap.
3. Remove the steering column opening cover.
4. Remove the amplifier.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Remove the mounting fasteners in the left side of the instrument panel.
7. Remove the speaker mounting fasteners.
8. Remove the speaker (2) by carefully pulling the left side of the instrument panel outward until there is sufficient room to remove the speaker through the end cap area.

INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER – PASSENGER

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the glove box.
3. Remove the instrument panel end cap.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the speaker mounting fasteners.
6. Remove the speaker

Absolutely. I have the factory Infinity system and I am very impressed for it being a stock system. I usually tear out stock speakers as soon as I get a new vehicle, but I'll be keeping these until one blows.

Question

The factory speakers in most vehicles are not the problem the stereo sounds like garbage at louder volumes--- it's your head unit. Replace that- and most average factory speakers come alive.... especially these Infinity speakers.

Word of caution when you upgrade your head unit- 2008 jeeps that have the dash tweeter speakers (infinity 6pc speaker system) also have an internal factory amp that supplies power to those speakers. If your bypass that factory amp, that means you have to cut wires, and void your electrical warranty. Axxess sells a Digital Interface harness that plugs into the factory amp. Down side to this is--- The factory amp is garbage and the new aftermarket stereo you install has to have the volume close to max for you to get normal sound levels (loudness). It's almost like the factory amp is a bottleneck for sound.....

These were the obsticles i faced when i installed my pioner stereo into my new jeep. Not sure if the best buy stereo installer is a moron-- and i bought into their harness bullcrap.... or there's a better way of dealing with this Infinity system.

Has anyone else had this problem?- or found a way around it?

the infinity speakers are great and if you want speakers which run better than those and you also hav a limitless budget, than MTX is the way to go. and if you just cant be bothered messing around with the factory amp, than wire a new 6 channel amp to your speakers.

It was interesting to me, that a trusted friend of mine, who has owned his Wrangler for a couple of years now, stated that the FIRST thing he would do with my new 08 "X" was take out the overhead speakers and replace them. He even HAD a set he was willing to give me. (He's a bit of a "quality of music reproduction snob" anyway).
