Splicing into the Sirius connector on RBQ radio for adding aux input

I have seen on different forums that splicing into the Sirius connector on the RBQ radio would work for adding a Aux input to play a Ipod/MP3 player through the radio. I have found this diagram (Below)
for the connector and i would splice into Pin 1 (Audio In Right) and Pin 6 (Audio In Left) wires from the 10 pin connector.

Questions:
1. Would splicing into the wires hinder the operation of the Sirius from working?
2. Has anyone done this to the RBQ radio and did it work?

Looking for some feedback.

Mopar makes an Ipod adapter that simply plugs in between the radio and Sirius tuner, it has both an Ipod plug as well as a minijack input, no splicing required. I've seen aftermarket adapters as well, but with many more complaints. Your other option would be an FM modulator that plugs into the antenna jack, to minimize the chance of interference.

I think this is what you are talking about.
I was looking for something on the less expensive side of things. I don't think they make this Ipod Integration kit anymore though. I have only been able to find it on Ebay.
