So somehow during the reinstall of my Tuffy center console I managed to screw up the stereo. No output from the head unit. All fuses OK and indication that she's alive. Clock works CD loads, volume & signal indicators, etc just no audio. There is some sort of "cigarette pack sized black box" on the firewall that the speakers are all wired to. It takes a signal from the head unit to power up. It "click's" when I turn on the stereo, but again no audio.

Wired a speaker directly to the head unit speaker wires and got no audio.

Thinking about scrapping the whole thing and replacing. NOT looking to go the whole sub routine. Just looking for good sounds through the speakers (dash, soundbar and rear 6x9's).

Any suggestions?

So no suggestions for stereo & amp set-ups? Looking to rip and tear the old and start fresh, just not going to the extreme of a sub.

got to crutchfield and put in a 1997 TJ, look thorugh there and decide on what u think u want then post it here and ppl will tell you you're all wrong and offer suggestions, for some reason that works better than asking just what should i get

I did away with the factory stuff and put in speaker pods, one in front of the shifter and the two 6x9's that wrap around the bottom of the roll bar behind the front seats. I love em' they sound great.

hey TX you got a pic of those. I've been thinkin about getting some more sound to blow my ears out. you know how it goes the sound bar, indash and 10" sub arn't enough...lol and how easy was the wiring for it?
