I have a friend that replace his stock JK stereo witht the upgraded NAV stereo. He is willing to give me the stereo. Does anyone know if the 08 JK stereo would fit an 03 TJ?
I think the unit is physically bugger but since he has it and would
let you have it why not just take your stocker out and try to
put the jk one in? If it fits great, I don't think you will see
any improvement with it tho.
I'm sorry, but I wouldn't do it. You'll have to cut your dash, because JK's use double din stereo's and TJ's use 1.5 din stereo's. There are no really good 1.5 din stereos. So, if you put in a double din stereo, make sure that you are satisified with the upgrade, and ready to compromise your stock configuration. In the long run, it comprises your stock configuration. And, you won't have a true TJ, if you hack your console. For these reasons, it is better to go with a single din stereo, which you can easily take back to stock, for resale value.
Technically it would work if you're willing to modify the center bezel and hack and match the harnesses. A lot of work for very little upgrade though.
