If you are looking for just a basic head unit i would suggest this

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XtKt3VB...0&I=500CDE9842

and Crutchfield usually gives you free shipping or the needed dash kit and wiring harness and the great thing is that they always give you instructions on the install.

crj- glad to see another officer on here. what part of ky you from? ever come down to windrock or tellico?

anyways, the cd player-- i just put a kenwood marine player in my dash and i love it. got rained on the other day and was soaked when i got off work. started right up and played great! getting caught in the rain is inevitable so you might as well prepare (think of it as insurance!)

I had a job installing radios on boats last summer and what I would do with head unit was wrap it with a ballon and cut some little holes onthe bottom of the ballon where the heat sink is (if it has one) ..... i neer got any complaints about it getting wet and what not

stacker option???

AUS$25 dollars bought me a mopar 6 stacker unit that plugged straight into my factory tape deck. took 30 minutes to install, i just bolted it into my centre console so it is locked safe and does the job perfect. plugs straight into the rear of the head unit and controlled by all the dials.

just my 2 cents

I got a "Monster" fm transmitter off ebay for around $16 plus another $8 or so for shipping. It works great, I am only hearing slight distortions when crossing major power lines or something. It hooks up to the cigarette lighter and the headphone out from the mp3. Works like a charm and MUCH better than the cassette adapter which I tried before as well...

Thanks catoct, i went ahead and just got a new mp3/cd player.. works perfect.. honestly the stock cd player (with great quality cd or radio) sounded like mono compared to my current pioneer 5900ib
