Stupid skipping mp3 cds oem cd player

Besides random and annoying skips even at idle, hell even with the engine off, and I am noticing audio cds I burned are sketchy, I am thinking of stopping blowing through CDs and messing with burn speeds and software.

I might get a new head unit. I already replaced my speakers when I got the 07 wrangler, the oem served its purpose but the skipping got worse. Even a 'cleaning cd' didn't help.

What is the best head unit that gives the most bang for the buck and has decent security features? In addition, where is the best place to buy one? It's been more than a decade since I fussed with non-oem stereos. I guess crutchfield to start?

there are way to many head units that are a good bang for your buck. it depends on what you are looking for in terms of bluetooth, ipod, sirius/xm radio, and what your price range is. do you plan on replacing speakers, adding a sub....

a few good placed with great prices you should check out are onlinecarstereo.com, sonicelectronix.com caraudioshop.com

The speakers in there now are not oem...since I don't bother locking it and it's a soft top I want something that will support mp3 cds, usb & audio inputs in the front...probably with a removable face or kill switch of sorts if it's attempted being ripped off.
