Default Sub and amp....

Is it possible to wire up an amp to the stock head unit? I have a 12" sub that came outta my car when i sold it along with an amp. Id like to hook them up and get a little more bass outta my jeep without having to replace the stock head unit, is that possible?

It's actually very easy, especially in the Wrangler. All you need to buy is a 2 Channel RCA line out converter, example , and tap it into your existing speaker wires. You can do this either behind the head unit, or as I did, tap the lines running into the sound bar near the base of the roll bar. Look up the wiring diagrams online, but if memory serves correct, it should be grey and grey white you need to tap. You can pick up a LOC at any car audio shop including Best Buy and shouldn't run you more than $20. You won't get a full digital signal, but if you are just hooking up a sub it doesn't make too much difference, especially if you are just talking about adding a little bit of bass.

You decide on which sub you want yet?

Sweet, so just splice in the two RCA's into the existing speaker wire are the roll bar, and the amp up to the battery as usual? What about a remote wire?

Ya, i have JBL 1000W amp and a Alpine Type R 12" that i had in the trunk of my old mustang before i sold it.

You would have to find a power source (12v +) that comes on with your key. Either go to the ignition harness or if you do not feel comfortable doing that use a lead from the cig lighter if you have it... I think those are only on with the key. Or if you want to go even easier, autozone or someplace like that should have a little adapter where you can get power from one of the fuses at the fuse panel.
