Pic taken after fit test. But now currently filled with a down fire kicker10" on the right and in the open space a infinity 4way amp. Wattage escapes me right now on the sub. And a six point kicker (currently all 5.25") speaker setup All hooked up to a 54w/channel Sony xplod head unit.

Edit: Oh and price I forgot. All in all. Eh. Around $1200 or so.

Cool set up in the back, similar to an instatrunk. Mysubs cost $5, and they are 12"'s!

Well I have 100% coverage on them. If anything happens I bring them back and get brand new ones for free. No questions asked.

While i think that 1200 is a lot i understand, good audio can be addicting. Anyway for a more reasonable price i have a 10" Memphis car audio sub with a JL audio amp and i built a custom box for the sub that fits within the cushioning of the rear seat. I also just this past weekend replaced the stock 4x6 and 5.25 speaker pairs that are on the dash and in the sound bar. I replaced them with infinity Audio speakers.I found that these new speakers dramatically helped the boost the base of my audio too. I did all of the installation myself and overall spend about 700 dollars for a total audio overhaul in my 06 TJ.

Guess I'll chime in. Alpine deck $200 about 8 years ago, Infinity ref 6.5" components front and rear $150 shipped for both this year, Alpine 350 watt amp $150 about 10 years ago, JL 8w3 $125 about 10 years ago, box $40 worth of materials. Pac harness about $60, ipod cable $30.

Guess you could say that I'm about $250 into it as the other stuff is leftovers from my last 2 vehicles. Or the accumulation over the years of about $750 with wiring and all.

I did have my $5 sub for lunch yesterday though.

Vertically Driven Products 7957502A - VDP Subwoofer Kit for 97-02 Jeep® Wrangler TJ - Quadratec

This is a great system, water proof, hidden, and hits hard.

Only $330 bucks and it comes with wires, fuses, everything you need.
I also got the VDP 6 speaker sound bar, and new kickers in my dash, and i love my setup.

Uh guys...this is about the cost of good audio. 3 sets of speakers at 100 bucks each? Thats the going rate. Head unit at 180? Thats the going rate. $90 for a sub is the going rate (for a decent one). $250 will get you a decent amp.

Custom box...depends on how custom it was. If its just a rectangular box, then yeah...thats a bit much. If its designed specially for his Jeep...thats the going rate.

Don't see the point of putting a stereo in my Jeep, as mine is a soft top, but but I'll be dropping in a stereo in my Cutlass quite soon. Good sound quality costs. Pounding bass doesn't.

define "pounding" cause "pounding" bass cost more than sound quality.

The box is all that sounds out of line. The most 'custom' enclosure in a jeep should be $50 in materials and done yourself.

SPL competition pounding costs...it doesn't cost anything to get a couple cheap subs and a cheap high powered amp and rattle the doors off.

i have a hard time believing that 2 $90 subs could get anywhere close to competition level sound.

Ive done it over and over....its more the box, quality of the amp, and quality of the headunit output more than the sub itself.

Although some subs sound better than others when not in a trunk. I remember the old pioneer impp subs that moved a lot of air and sounded great until you opened the trunk. When I switched to JL audio they were clean sounding with your head up to the box.

Who's claiming they will? Unless you have a dedicated platform, no one gives a rats ass about SPL competitions...

All it takes for the kind of pounding bass anyone on here is talking about is a pair of cheap subs and a cheap amp. That'll easily overpower the highs and start rattling stuff apart.

i would say to get a single sub for the same price that puts out as much as 2 subs to save space.

I have 2 10" rockfords in the back in a rhino-lined perfect fit box behind the seat. I also have 10 other speakers throughout the car so I can hear some lyrics, soon will have 6 more speakers for a second soundbar.

My box is possibly one of a kind, formed to the rear wheel well, layered in fiberglass for water proofing and bed linered for appearance and durability.

It still cost less than $50.

Just saying that you can save a lot of money doing things yourself, but you still have to pay for quality.
