Subs and head unit

Just taking a poll and asking a few questions about your sound system. I have a 07 JKU without the factory sub. First questions

Where do you have your subs mounted? What size? And how are they firing? Also any opinions or wish you would have done something different than you did?

anyone using the stock head unit with aftermarket amps and subs? Is the aftermarket deck push a good enough signal to pound? Does it sound good, or is an after market head unit a must??

to add a sub the best bet is to go with a powered sub, the only powered sub i would ever recommend is the infinity basslink. all the other powered subs are not worth the money. an after market head unit will have a much better signal to your speakers and many options to add to your stereo. you can run an amp with the factory unit, all you need is a line out converter, i suggest the pac soem t(PAC SOEM-T (soemt) Premium 2-Channel Adjustable Line Out) it taps into any speaker and sends a mono signal for a mono amp and it also has a remote turn on wire to tell your amp when to turn on. is an after market unit a must? yes, sound quality and adjustability are better than stock, rather than a 3 channel EQ(bass treble and mids) you can get aftermarket units with 7 band eq's. it all depends on your wallet.

I like the Memphis "M" Class subs. I am currently running one dual 4 ohm vc with a JL Audio 500/1 mono amp. @ 2 ohms. I have a soft top. When the top is on, it is plenty of bass. When the top is off, I can adjust it and it can be heard, but I need more, so I am going to upgrade to a dual enclosure and get another amp as well as "M" Class sub. My single enclosure is for sale if anybody is interested. Local pick up only.
