subwoofer

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas of how to install a subwoofer with some security to it. Maybe in the console or something thanks

I haven't done it yet, but i plan to do a custom install of a kicker comp vr in a space kind of in between/behind my front seats (i don't use the rear, have a wind jammer there) w/ in a week or two. I'm thinking it's going to have the amp under the seat and the sub in a small box that is bolted to the floor...we'll see how it goes. I'll let you know.

This guy has an AWESOME Sub setup in his Jeep, just click on 'Jeep Projects' on the right and all kinds of stuff hes done is on there. I'd have some of my stuff posted but I don't have any pics of my installs I've done (Alpine radio, Polk Momo custom installed over head speakers, Polk 4Ch amp Stealth wired in the rear)

I plan on making a little box to fit under the passenger seat to house an 8" woofer and a tray for the amp under the driver seat. With the right brand and power you can get an 8" woofer to sound and hit like a 10".... but Maybe next winter(?) when I plan on going to a half cab conversion I'll modify some truck boxes to fit behind the seats.

Might not be as big of a sub as you want, but these look nice.

^ the only problem with those is that you'll get a lot of noise distortion from the speaker that you put in there because they are not sealed. If you were to fill it up with sound foam it might help, but nothing like a solid box.

Like we don't get enough noise issues with a TJ?

My Tuffy with 8" Kicker sub sounds pretty good and fills the sound nicely. I'm no audiophile, but the sound works just fine for me. I did dynamat it though.

if you did something like that, or with a stock console, you should build an enclosure for the sub.

personally, i think the in seat enclosure chris (sirgcal) designed is the best thing going. you can run more powerful sub(s) and it's completely hidden.

But easy to remove.

Getting to my Kicker in my Tuffy would take some serious work.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Kenwood-KSC-SW1-...QQcmdZViewItem I don't know myself, but have been told these will slide under the rear seat. It would seem to be a quick and easy install if you don't need to make things rattle too bad. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I've heard it.... It leaves a lot to be desired. It's a single 6.5" sub with a passive radiator on the other side, sort of like an infinity basslink.

i had two kicker 10"s in a custom box that bolted to the tub behind the rear seat. it was made for the speakers to fire down (out of sight out of mind). then you can install the amp under the back seat. this way no1 ever see's it and wont think to steal it.....

Hey guys, heres what I put in my TJ. It's a 10" Infinity Base Link w/an amp built in. Speaker cost $300 and installation was $75 (Purchased all at Best Buy). I can hear the stereo loud and clear with the top down on the highway. I positioned the base of the speaker to where you have to open the rear hatch to remove it. As long as it's locked...you can't remove the bolts that hold the base down. Hope this helps.
1 problem....no room for my half door tops anymore unless I put them in the backseat.

Nope, folding the seat down won't give you any access to the bolts (I've already tried that myself). You have to actually open the back to unlock the bolts.
