Trouble With Burned CDs

I have decided to burn a few cds now since I have the top down so much but only some of the cds work. It is the factory unit and plays store bought cds just fine but when it comes down to anything I have on the computer I start to have problems. Is this a common issue?

Yah, Pretty sure the technology just isn't there. My '01 won't recognize a burned CD. I just read to try burning them at slower speed.. I may have to give that a go...

Mine only works with high quality discs. Cheap discs either won't play or will play 2 or 3 songs then eject.

i replaced my factory radio w/ one that has a usb connection. love it since i can plug in a flash memory stick and just jam..i bairly use cd's anymore. bc w/ usb no skipping

nothing like a 1 gig stick and goin from ohio to NC last Aug. and never hearing same song twice

I have an Alpine ex-10 (or at least I think thats what it is called) that I use for the iPod but if I go into town with the top down and doors off I pull it out and hide it. I remember my 2001 Grand Cherokee played any CD-R I threw at it. I wouldn't need the burned cds if I could just afford the little remote for the Alpine. Dang thing flew out of the last vehicle it was in as the car tumbled over.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one out there! Do you think there would be a way to install the WJ stock unit into the TJ?

you might wanna try and look at the formats the songs are in on your computer. most cds will put any type of audio file on it but a lot of radios can only read a certain kind of format. like i know some radios will not read mp3 audio files but they will read aac files or other types. just experiment with that before you go rippin out your radio. most music players on the comp will convert audio files to different formats, itunes will fo sho

Wow I had totally forgotten about working with file types. Thanks for reminding me APPSTATE. I'll give it a try and see if it works out tonight on my way to work.

I had problems with mine no matter what format the files were in or what settings I used to burn the disc at from my desktop PC. After a few weeks of getting pissed about it I decided to try to burn a CD from my work laptop and it worked just fine. It's kind of a pain to have to put all of the files on an external drive and then hook it up to the laptop to burn....but it sure beats not listening to cd's in my jeep

I had a stereo once that only like CD's that I burned with Nero. No other software would make it happy.

I decided to avoid this problem with my Jeep - I bought a stereo that accepts flash drives

Sorry to revive an old thread but has anybody found a good CD/ format combo that works. I've had the same problem in my 02 sahara also.
