Two CB Questions...

I'm going to install a CB on my 2011 JKU. I will have the AEV rear bumper w/ tire carrier on it. I live in the city and need to be able to get in and out of garages. The lowest garage I go in is a low 6' 5"... I'm not sure I'll be able to clear that with my 2.5" lift anyway... I will likely pull the antenna off when I'm not out on the trail and therefore will likely use a quick disconnect. I'd also like to use a spring to keep it from snapping off if it catches a branch. Since I live in the midwest, low branches are always around.

My question is this... Which would be a better option:

1) 3' Firestik mounted on the bumper, license plate or maybe even tailgate.
2) 2' FireStik mounted on top of the AEV tire carrier mast.

I know for an antenna mounting higher, longer and unobstructed is always better. But if the choice is high, short and unobstructed or low, long and obstructed... Which is better?

2nd question is this... The AEV mast is pretty tall as it is... if I mount a spring and quick disconnect will it make taking the hard top off difficult? Will it be above the lip of the window? Will it be above the top of the roof?

Thanks in adance!

The closer to 1/4 wavelength the better go with the 3ft.

I have a 2007 jk.and I've done quite. A bit of research on this, I'm no pro by any means. But the general consensus votes the 3 foot firestik license plate mount. Thats what I just chose too. Not too many complaints
