Where did you mount your CB Radio?

Everyone has plenty of pictures of where they installed their antenna mounts; that I have... what I want to know is where you mounted your CB Radio unit itself? and do you leave it in when you park it for the night/day? or do you take it out every time you leave?

Pics would be great!!!

i put mine where the stereo head unit goes, and put the stereo in the tuffy center lock console. no one steals a cb. they wouldn't know where to plug in their i pod.

haha alright, someone else had said that before, that they really don't get stolen, but I just figured I'd check anyways, and I wanted to minimize how much space I lost in the Jeep since theres so little to start with in the first place..

On the dash ...it dont take up much room though. Routed the wire down the firewall behind the defrost vent cover.

I could take it off the dash if i wanted and just throw it under the seat and in the consol but I'll probally always leave it on the dash.

I made it quick disco just by adding some connectors to the power and ground wire and sticky velco holding the cb itself down.

Hey thanks guys, I figured a temporary location out, and when I get my tuffy box, I'll move it there (not just for security, but it'll keep my radio out of the way better then my curent location; its pretty big). I'll post some pictures myself tonight, in case anyone else is interested...

Hey, I just finished with the move, so I haven't been able to find my camera just yet, but as soon as I can, I'll post the pictures of where the radio is now.

I have a large Cobra radio. I mounted it under the glove box and a couple of inches from the console to make room for the handset. As long as the passenger seat is all the way back, there's no problem with clearance even for an adult. The glove box has enough clearance too. I used hex head screws and a heavy duty bracket to deter any thieves.

I mounted mine in the same spot as distoredtj's except I drilled holes and ziptied the cb's mounting bracket to the dash. Its a nice spot... "easy to reach and out of the way"

thats where I had the CB mounted before I got my Tuffy overhead console installed. It worked pretty well, hard to make adjustments to stuff when you were driving because it was behind you, but you shouldnt be playing with the squelch/SWR and all of that fun stuff while driving anyway.

Just another option

I viewed all of the pix and ideas here and went my own way. Just something else for the future CB installers of america to consider.

I mounted mine in the same place with two .35 cent hose clamps.

I'll be putting my CB in today. Plan on using hose clamps and putting it overhead as well.

I got the Quadratec bracket that mounts the CB to the drivers side of the center console next to the 4wd shifter. Just look under CB's on Quadratec. I love the location of mine.

I saw that bracket, but I was worried that the cb might get in the way. Any problems?

I mounted mine here too. I used industrial Velcro from Lowes and just Velcroed it to the dash....no bracket. It has just enough room for the seat to fold forward without tearing the seat or damaging the radio.
