I've seen some mount it on the rear tire carrier. Going up the back of the 3rd brake light is where I'm putting mine. I have a 4ft antenna.

Here's mine. I'm going to do the same thing, on the driver's side, for my ham antenna.

That set-up (and Jeep color) looks familiar Amy.

I ran my coax through one of the holes and the mount is still plenty stiff.

Hey, that's a good idea. I was trying to figure out a good way to secure the coax if I take off my top.

It will require cutting off one end and getting a new plug and soldiering it ... but it is a pretty clean alternative to draping it over the tub or tailgate.

Soldering is no problem, I like sticking things together with heat and melty stuff.

It does look good. I think I'll have to use your method for my ham antenna.

Ill have to take some pictures but I cut a notch between the tailgate and body so it wouldnt pinch the wire. Its a pretty clean set up, pictures tomorrow.

Guess I'm guilty of draping mine. I don't have a hard top, so I never took the time to make sure it was out of the way of that.

I have been back and forth between a 3' tail light and a 4' bumper, but I heard that bumper mounts are horrid grounds, and play havic with sound quality. I plan on leaving my CB in the Jeep at all times, and using all the time, to make driving more fun, so quality is important. Just let me know how your bumper mount it, ill move my question to communications later on when I am ready

I mounted mine in a little different location. I cut out this bracket and sunk the bolts. Works really well in this location for picking up signal both in front and rear of the jeep.

here's a good picture. It is the same way on my jeep.
