Where to mount CB?

I've been putting off mounting my cb in my Tj since I got it (the TJ). I ordered a new antenna, antenna mount, and coax lastnight. I'm still not sure where to mount the radio. I don't want it to be near the floor and not really interested in an overhead console. I'm thinking of the WP mount that goes on the left side of the steering wheel ontop of the dash but not crazy about it because i'm right handed it seems it'll be awkward reaching it lefty. Any sugestions on where to mount it? Pics help.

I agree with the lefty reach on the bracket you mention. I custom made a bracket to mount mine to. Its 10ga sheet metal notched and bent around the footman loop in the wind shield frame. It works very well and I don't need a remote speaker to hear it.

You got any other pics? i'd like to see how you bent it and where you attached it to the frame.

I put mine on the sound bar to the right of my head. I can hear the speaker real well and I can look in the rear view mirror to see all the controls. Easy to reach the mike. I am going to put a mic clip on the front of my console so when I am wheeling it will be right by my right hand.

We mounted my CB on the dash.

Skeeter and I made an overhead console for my 2-meter radio. Works really well for me but Skeeter cracks his head on it every time he gets in my jeep.

I hate that thing

Works good but hurts like hell when you go to jump in and smack your melon on it.

That's why you look in the rear view mirror to see the face plate..

Yes 10ga, you may be able to go lighter gauge. Its what I had on hand and worked well. Two self taping screws to mount it.

Is there a more concealed way to run the wires? I like it up on the windshield but would like to hide the wires better. I will search it tm hmm.

I was thinking of routing them internally in the wind shield frame but got impatient.

hmm- When I get mine probably within a week or 2. I will see what I can do with the wires and report back! I will try not to get impatient and just duck tape them to the front windshield lol.

Actually mine isn't taped to the frame. I used wire loom and loom straps. Its better than looking at just the wires.

my jeep has a plastic cover running the length of the window frane at the top. It would be easy to run the wires behind it and drill a hole in the plastic to bring out the wires to the radio.
