where to run wire through firewall

Im in the process of putting an amp in my 95 yj. Im not too sure where to run the power wire through the firewall. Is there any pre existing holes, or do i drill out my own. Thanks in advance.

should have a nice big factory grommet close to driver side, that stock wires are running through. thats where i took mine through on my YJ

95 YJ, 4" suspension lift, 32's, 2.5l 4 cyl (350 built and waiting to be installed in spring, along with ford 8.8 rear end)

i'd say drill a hole and put a grommet in. just find a spot on the firewall with out anything in the way on both sides of the firewall.

look at your master cylinder. you should see wires running through a rubber gromet.

Also there's a hole filled with expanding foam on both sides up essentially behind the mirror. Open the door and pull the plastic end cap off the dash. You should see what I mean if you look forward. Then open the hood and look back under the cowl. It's tight to get your hand in from the hood side so I suggest either sending the wires through from the cabin side or using a fish tape or fish wire to pull them back.

YJ firewall pass through

There is an oval shaped grommet on the driver side about 8 inches in from the computer wire plug, is pretty easy to see unless you have a ton of after markets in the way. There is some rubber plug that fits in the grommet, that I was able to pass 2 14 gauge wires through sort easy; would of been real easy with a snake, but even without it was doable. Just take a ton of tape off and pull the existing wires out into the engine bay until you see the sneaking tape that is hidden right in the middle of the grommet, then remove that tape too. Slide your wires in the bunch and pull it back into the cabin. You could remove the rubber plug and pass just about all the wires imaginable through too, if you need that much space.
