Windshield Lights, power to switch, but not lights

I am hoping someone can give me some guidance on this, I am not very mechanically inclined, but I usually follow directions well.

I installed my KC Apollos, 55watt, this evening. I went step by step and subsequently have power to the switch, but the lights are not coming on.

The lights themselves are grounded right to the winshields brackets, the switch is grounded to a screw that was right behind the panel below the steering wheel, and the splices for the load wires just pinched the wires so I didnt even have to strip and clamp anything.

Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Are the brackets powder coated? They need to be on bare metal. I'd run the ground back under the cowl and try again, making sure they are touching bare metal.

They are the black KC windshield brackets, so I assume they are painted, but not powder coated. Would that still make the difference?

If they are anything like my KC's, it's powdercoat, and thick... try a new ground before buttoning everything up.

Ok, I will. I guess I do not think of them as powder coat because they are glossy, like they have been clear coated.

Thanks for your help.

Grounds should be on a bare metal surface

Putting my windshield lights on after Christmas. Getting them for Christmas. Pretty excited. Do you have a pic?

You'd be surprised what they can do with powder coatings now.

Good luck.

I just got a set of KC Hilites Apollo (55W) driving lights tonight from a jeeping friend! SO excited to get them mounted. I want to mount them on my windshield mounts too (2006 TJ). Where did you mount your switch? Any pics you could share?

I have some KC Daylighters on my windshield and originally wired it using the supplied harness. After adding my Rigid LED Flood lights to the bumber, I swapped out the cheezey switch with some nice "ARB" replica switches.

Rigid Industries Dually LED's : Installed

I mounted the switch in the lower dash panel by my right knee. I opted not to use the cheesy KC housing that they give you with the light switch. My only dislikes are that my interior is primarily tan and I didn't care for any of the areas that were black.

As far as the picture of the lights, I am using the yellow vinyl covers for now, but I contacted customer service at KC hilites earlier in the month and he said that they were due to have stone guards available for the Apollo Series sometime in December. If you get the Apollo Pro's the come with molded stone guards. Unfortunately the stone guards that you can buy for the slimlite and daylite series will not fit on the Apollos.

sPOD

Want a top-notch way to hookup present and future electrical Mods, get a "sPOD". I did, just installed it to day (a piece of cake)
