Wiring IPOD to YJ

I bought my YJ w/o a radio bc it was stolen from the previous owner. It has the wires hanging out and so I have noooo music which is a huge bummer.

All I need is an adaptor or something to connect my ipod or phone into w/ an aux plug. Any suggestions? I really wanna rock out w/ some banging music when I get home! I don't really need the radio, but if buying the whole unit w/ an aux plug would be cheaper, I can go w/ that too.

You can get a good quality radio for cheap that has a USB conector on front to plug into. And most will charge your I-pod/phone.

You can either go the cheap route and by a head unit cause u need something to drive your speakers, your ipod/phone will not, or buy an 2way amp and hook up a 3.5mm to av out direct to the amp... Little bit more money way better sound plus no head unit

That won't work unless you have a FM radio, since that's just a FM transmitter.

Do as said above, buy a Headunit with USB or buy a small amplifier and directly plug the iPod into that. Personally, I'd go with the amp if you only want the iPod as you can find decent 4 channel amps for under $100, and even less when used.

Ok, so I may be thinking way too far in advanced here, but just by looking at the amps online, it gets me thinkin, "Where will I put the amp?"

Is it small enough to go into the console? On the floor? Where?

Suggestions?

My radio got stolen out of my YJ. I went to Wal Mart and picked up a decent am/fm stereo with the aux output for my IPod for around 40 or 50 bucks. Here are a few that are not too bad price wise Walmart.com: Boss Audio 640CA - 1-DIN In-Dash AM/FM, CD Receiver with Front Panel AUX Input: Auto Electronics

This one appears to only act as a receiver for your MP3 player. No radio. No CD player. Boss Audio 612UA - 1-DIN Digital Media Receiver - Walmart.com

That one has AM/FM radio, and of course, it'll play media cards and MP3 players through it.

Yeah, you're going to have to have some sort of head unit, I really wouldn't just try to do it with an amp instead. So your choices are to get one with a minijack aux input and no direct Ipod control/charging/etc, or one with Ipod control that will also be able to charge your Ipod. You shouldn't have to spend more than $100 either way.

You can get some small enough to go into a console, but I wouldn't put it in the floor for the off chance that you will ever ride a creek you'll get water in the floor and that would be bad for the amp not to mention no more music! You can mount it over head like some folks do there CB's. It will be out of the way and keep it cool to. Or get enough wiring and mount it to the top of the rear fenderwell, should be high enough to stay out of the way.
