Is there a way to get the bumper tested to see its towing capacity as I'm sure many people who are looking to purchase it (as i am about to with the front bumper) or who already own one can know what it is capable of?
It seems silly that they have D-rings for recovery and a 2" hitch designated for only recovery.
It looks also like having this bumper with that hitch being dropped down like that prohibits you from putting a separate towing hitch on the vehicle.
I agree that these bumpers attach as securely or more securely than tow rated bumpers. Recovery is hard on a bumper and these hold up to it.
We have no bearing over getting a bumper tow rated or not. I know most aftermarket bumper manufacturers don't tow rate their bumpers due to the expense and liability. I imagine that is why Barricade doesn't tow rate their bumpers.
Any in-house test we would do over the bumper's capacities would not be official and could end up being dangerous for anyone using the bumper for anything it isn't officially rated for.
You could always cut out the receiver on the bumper to make room for an OE style hitch if you wanted to. Otherwise those two parts will not work together. Please let me know what other questions you have!
