Mingus Mountain June 14th??

Looking to head up to Mingus Mountain for a day trip on June 14th. Have only a couple of vehicles in at the moment, looking for a few more. Hit me up of interested. I do not have to many details at the moment, just getting a tentative headcount, details will be ironed out later this week.

Mingus Mountain Details

If anyone plans on going, we are going to meet in Anthem at the Fry’s located at Daisy Mountain Dr & Gavilan Peak Pkwy at 8:00AM. Take I-17 North, Exit 227 Daisy Mtn Dr, take a right onto Daisy Mtn Dr and go down about ˝ mile to Gavilan Peak Pkwy. The Fry’s is on the NE Corner.

We will proceed at around 8:30 heading north up I-17 towards exit 287, we will then take a left back over the freeway towards Cottonwood. We will top off in Cottonwood and proceeded to the staging area at the start of the trail. I’m not sure if there is an actual staging area but we will make our own.

Directions to the trail are as follows:

260 to 89A (Main St), Turn Left
89A (Main St) to 89A (Cottonwood St), Turn Left
89A (Cottonwood St) to Mingus Ave, Turn Left
Follow Mingus Ave to start of trail.

If anyone has any two way radios please bring them.

After the run, we are looking at grabbing lunch either in Jerome, Cottonwood or maybe even Sedona, we can decided that afterwards.

If anyone has any further questions please feel free to shoot me a message.

I guess I should of asked earlier but what kind of a ride is it. I've been on part of Mingus mountain and it was a easy ride. Just don't want to hold anyone back if I go.

The trail is the one that is on the east side of the mountain, east of 89A. Its nothing difficult from what I understand. Any stock SUV with 4x4 and higher clearance is recommended from some of the things i have read. I have personally not taken this trail before however a buddy of mine has and he went up in a stock 02' TJS with no problems. I have attached a link below that has more info on the trail. After this first trail there is a second part we may take, it is the Woodchute Trail on the west side of 89A, it is a little more difficult but not by much from what I have read, again there is a link at the bottom. Hope this helps!

That pic looks awesome. I wish I could've made it out, but my jeep developed a popping noise. I think it's the draglink connected to the pitman arm. It happens when I turn or hit a bump. Does anyone know if it's easy to fix?

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable in the mechanics of a Jeep... yet. In due time. Hope you find a fix
