Need to get TJ on (off?) the road.

Hi all,

I apologize for taking anyone's time since I haven't been a part of the community.

I have a '97 TJ Sport 4.0 I ordered new. It has around 40k miles on it. I used to 4 wheel a lot but drifted away. I should have sold it (had lots of offers) but kept it thinking I'd get back into it and might not want to go thru all the mods again if that time came.

But I guess that's not going to happen. Now that I may want to sell it, it finally decides it won't run. I finally waited too long between running.

Anyway, I'm looking for a reliable shop or individual in the Phoenix area to get it back in tip-top condition so I can either get re-interested or sell it.

I know it will need all new fluids and belts at a minimum. It still cranks and briefly starts but it quickly stalls out so I assume there is some sort of fuel issue. My son thought it was a bad fuel pump and pulled it from the tank but couldn't figure out how to test it outside the Jeep. LoL.

Anyway, if anyone can recommend someone or some business that does this sort of thing, I'd appreciate it. I'm not the type to just get it running, I want to bring it back to 1st rate shape whether I sell it or not.

Thanks

Remember that over time fuel loses its octane and kinda turns to kerosene (not literally). So if you had much fuel, you'll need to drain and flush the tank, and use some additive like chevron's techroline to help clean the fuel injectors...along with hi octane fuel.

Thanks. We drained the tank and put new gas in.

My son changed plugs.

Cleaning injectors I don't have a clue other than putting cleaner in the tank while its running.

I agree injectors or fuel filter are likely problems.

But my health isn't so good and I know it will need a lot of things beyond just getting it to run without dieing right away. That's why I'm looking for a shop/mechanic who does good work. I'm sure a dealer could do it but they have so much overhead. I think I need a small business or mechanic working on the side.

What part of town are you in? I know some good shops depending on where you live.
