Sorry to hear about you mom!

Why does soldiers pass take you an hour!? I've done that trail too many times to count and if just doing trail I can go through it in under 30 min. Maybe an hour if you walk around a ton. As for trail guides rating it difficult I think that's a joke. I've seen so many stocks do that trail. It might be challenging in areas for bone stock and beginners but it really isn't that bad

I will be camping in Sedona This weekend. Plan on doing Soldiers Pass, Broken Arrow, Schnebly Hill Rd, Devils Bridge and maybe another depending on how wife is feeling.

If anyone is doing the trails for the first time and would like more info when in town, stop by Barlow Jeep Rental on 89a and they will give you free maps and info for any of the trails. Don't be afraid to go alone (I know it's a big rule never to wheel alone) but most trails are traveled frequently every day by enthusiast and tours.

Red Rock Pass

It's very nice to have and for $20 for the year that's nothing. You can stop at visitor center on 179 coming into Sedona from I17. If not wanting to spend money on pass there is a $5 day pass or you don't need one at all as long as you don't park and exit vehicle

If anyone has any questions or wants to meet this weekend out there, pm me or email me at husker.n.az@gmail.com

Good Morning Dave,

Thank you for the information regarding the Red Rock Pass.

Barlows Jeep rentals is where I bought by Treks book, great group of people. VERY helpful.

As far as Soldiers pass time frame, it can be done very quickly.

However I do not know everyone who is going, there driving skill set or what they had to do to make it on the trip. What is very simple to some may be others extreme. So I have allotted enough time (I think, could be wrong) for each Jeeper so they do not feel rushed to drive over there head off road. Also to get out and take photos of them selves, there Jeep or the land scape when ever they want. It would be unfortunate to designate an "X" time to accomplish a run that really has no need to be just ran through.

Possibly doing Schnebly Hill Rd on Sunday? It has been a few years since my wife and I have been down that run.

Jonathan

Check with Barlows and make sure it's open (only open certain times of year) I'm sure you know, but Schnebly Hill Rd is just a road that takes you all the way back to I17 with prime camping and fishing along the way. The part some don't know about though, is there is a turn off at the top which they still call Schnebly Hill Rd (or trail) and its a 4 low area

I'd love to join you guys, but I have a wedding to attend tomorrow

I leave for Afghanistan mid June so I'm hoping to hit a couple relaxing trails before I head out.

Was good times.

We ended up starting on Blue Monster (more of a trail/dirt road)

Moved over to Soldiers Pass, short with a few obstacles then ate lunch at the sink hole.

Ended the day at Broken Arrow.

Was a long day.

Just got back in town. 8 days... Antelope canyon, Zion, Escalante, Arches, Canyonland and Moab. @1600 miles. Didn't do much of the harder trails in Moab due to time. A 3 hour trail takes us 5-6 with all the camera stops. The Rubi did great! Fully tested the skid plates too. :-)

We handle the mechanical operations for the hotel in Monument Valley "The View" Twice a year a handfull of us have to head up and do some work for them. End result we do a Northern AZ/Southern Utah run.

I want to put together a larger run this fall or next spring, if I can get enough interest....

Day 1, Leave early, make the trip up to the Hotel and run the Monument Valley loop.

Day 2, Valley Of the God's, Moki Dugway, Gooseneck State Park, Have a beer in Mexican Hat back to the hotel.

Day 3, head up to Moab check into the hotel, start making runs.

Day 4, 5 and 6. Play in Moab.

Day 7... Sadly head home...

I can't make a huge amount of runs because I travel for a living but I'll keep an eye out on this thread.

Stock does just fine. A little patience and a can do attitude goes a long way.
